                              The Insurance Process

The actual process for getting your home re-built varies depending on your insurance company.  The adjuster represents your insurance company.

If you would like to have someone dedicated to your interests only, with the experience to help you find the answers to your questions, we have staff which are licensed insurance adjusters with years of experience.  We can help you find the answers to your questions so you can make the right decisions for you and your family.

                              1. Contact your agent and file a claim
                              2. Meet with the adjuster assigned to your claim
                              3. Get a copy of your policy including “declarations” page

Depending on your insurance company, the following should roughly be the process….
                              4. After you fully understand ALL the benefits in your policy, an agreement is reached between you and the adjuster on the total amount owed to you as determined by your policy.  This should be for your structure, contents and living expenses. Some forms will need to be filled out by you to expedite this process.   If you are not sure if you are getting everything your contract provides, call us and we can help you get the answers you need.
                              5. Your insurance company will arrange to send a check to you with your name and your mortgage company’s name for the full loss listed on the structure as well as for your contents lost.
                              6. Notify your mortgage company and endorse the check and deposit it into an escrow account with your mortgage company
                               7. Your mortgage company will notify you of the funds dispersement procedures to your contractor should you elect to re-build
                              8. Select a contractor, sign a contract (after consulting with your attorney), and get to work.

The contractor you select should have experience and references that can be verified in fire restoration construction.  Special procedures must be followed regarding your foundation as soon as possible.  Additionally, other procedures should be done at various stages of the re-construction to insure the smoke smell is eliminated.
